Following an altercation with a Lagos State FA official and unruly conduct by some players and support staff, C.O.D United have announced the dismissal of 3 players, Ikpowonsa Ogbeifu, Kingsley Ogwuche, Eze Anthony and its team bus driver Peter Iduku with immediate effect.

The driver has also been handed over to the police following allegations that he physical attacked the said official.

The actions of the players and driver contravenes C.O.D United's code of conduct which prohibits fighting with anyone, within or outside the club and the management has applied the prescribed punishment as
enshrined in the code of conduct.

The management of the club has offered the players and driver a counseling course so that they can emerge from this sad and regrettable episode as better people.

Chief Executive of the club, Shola Opaleye said the club’s objective of returning sanity to football continues despite the incident.” We are deeply sorry about what happened and we have been left with no option than to show the players and driver the exit door. We have offered them a counseling course and we hope they take up the offer so that they can become better people. This club would never condone unruly behavior within or outside the club and we remain committed to that ideal.

The club has been in existence for 7 years and everyone can attest to our impeccable conduct at all times. This episode, while regrettable, is completely out of character and totally against all we stand for and represent and preach as a club. The club will now be carrying out a full investigation of what happened and should anyone else be found guilty of any other breach in the
club’s rules, we would not hesitate to mete out the appropriate punishment.

We regret the incident and we have tendered our full and unreserved apology to the official involved. We would continue the work on ensuring that unruly behavior and other such associated acts of disrepute and dishonor are completely stamped out of not just our club, but Nigerian football as a whole.

Once again, we apologize to all concerned parties and we will be working hard to ensure that incidents like these never occur again.”
