By Wednesday October 8, 2014 the new Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) board will take a decision on whether to continue with Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi or not.
Stephen Keshi has a place in Nigeria football history both as a player and as a coach but I guess as the coach of Nigeria's senior football team, Keshi felt the heat just like playing in front of Lagos fans at the national stadium, Surulere. Right from when he was named the coach of the Super Eagles he has enjoyed little support from Nigerians whose number one sport is football yet some still tagged his success 'luck'.
What Will You Do If You Were Keshi?
Keshi is only indigenous coach to have led the Super Eagles to the last 16 at the World Cup, he won the the Africa Cup of Nations after a nineteen years wait but as it stands, Keshi who at some point pulled interest from some countries is now on 'Pay As You Go' with the Super Eagles and as we wait for a decision from the NFF it looks like Stephen Keshi might not be given a new contract.
Comments credited to the new NFF president, Amaju Pinnick clearly shows he isn't a fan of Stephen Keshi but what will you advice the 'Big Boss' to do?
According to vanguardngr.com, NFF president, Amaju Pinnick said, “He (Keshi) is a national hero. I celebrate him for all he has achieved with the team in such a short time, but it appears he can’t move the Eagles forward unless he improves on his abilities.”
“We failed to go further in Brazil because our coaches did not adopt the scientific approach to winning matches. Football has gone beyond having a coaching crew on the bench. The trend now is to have the technical back-room staff, peopled by expert coaches, who win matches from the bench.”
Questions On My Mind?
Should Stephen Keshi wait or throw in the towel?
If he picks the six points off Sudan this month in the AFCON qualifiers will that secure his job?
