    Atlanta Residents Want super Eagles Back

    After the goalless draw against Mexico, the Nigerian Consular led by Ambassador Geoffrey Teneilabe organized a get together for the players and officials at the team’s W.Buckhead hotel and it proved a well attended event, especially by Nigerians resident in Atlanta and other American cities.

    Among the crowd were former
    Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia, former internationals Paul Okoku, Christian Nwokocha and several others. Many of the guests said they were excited that the Super Eagles were playing for the first time in Atlanta and that they will ensure that in the near future the team returns to the city.

    Gbenga Bakare, a former Sports Journalist with Punch Newspapers in Nigeria, said he was delighted to see the team play so well and can’t wait for a repeat. “It’s good to see the national team here and many of us will do anything to bring them back”, he said.  NTA’s Bureau Chief in the United States Adeyemi Opatoba, was also excited and said she will be glad to see the team all the time in the states.

    Nnaji Soludo, a resident said it was one of his best moments since he was born. “I was born here and I have never seen Nigerian national team play but my dreams have come true and I will be happy if they come to Atlanta again”, he said.

    Even the huge population of Mexican at the stadium applauded the Nigerian team’s performance and said they will never be tired of always playing against the African champions anywhere in the United States. Pablo Higuera, an Atlanta native said Nigeria has become a familiar face to him in international sports and he will be happy to see them again sooner than later.
