Saturday Football: Bayelsa United Smile, Enyimba Out, NNL week5 Day One Result.

Second runners up in the Nigeria Professional Football League, Bayelsa United have qualified for the second round of the 2014 CAF Confederations Cup.

The Restoration Boys from Bayelsa despite getting to Congo late for the first leg of the CAFCC were able to secure a barren draw but in the second leg Bayelsa United sealed a 2:0 victory to qualify for the next round of the competition courtesy of a goal in each half from Peter Ebimobowei 23" and Jafar Buhar 59".

In Mali, Enyimba of Aba's lone goal against AS Real of Bamako
wasn't good enough as the Malian club dump the Aba Elephant out of the 2014 CAF Champions League. The People's Elephant 1:2 first leg home loss to the Malian club in Aba made things difficult as the 2013 Federations Cup champions couldn't break the AS Real back line to double their lead. Both legs ended in a 2:2 aggregate but AS Real qualified for the next round on away goal rule having scored twice in Nigeria but Enyimba were only able to score once in Mali.

Ten matches were played in the Nigeria National League week 5 day one.
In group A, Kaduna base club DSS FC won 2:1 against Kogi United while Supreme Court from Abuja were humbled by 2:0 by Adamawa United. Abuja base teams FRSC and Nigeria Prison won their matches at home. FRSC trashed Ranchers Bees of Kaduna by 2:0 and Nigeria Prison got a slim lone goal victory over Kwara United FC of Ilorin. Another Abuja base team TEAP FC (The Everlasting Arm Parish) were unlucky on the road as they lost by a lone goal to Jigawa Golden Stars.

Group B recorded some interesting result as every week offers an interesting fixture. MFM FC of Lagos who have so far picked two points on the road got a barren draw at Omoku against Go Round FC.

Prime FC,COD United, Bendel Insurance and Unicem Rovers all picked slim victories at home. A 1:0 in Favour of Bendel Insurance was enough to secure the maximum points for the Benin Gunners while Prime of Osogbo got the same result against the Rock City Boys, Gateway. COD United continued from where they left it at home after beating MFM by 2:1 at the Onikan stadium in week 3, the White Lions got a 1:0 victory against Gabros Int'l of Nnewi. Akwa Starlet form Uyo also lost by a lone goal to Unicem Rovers in Calabar.
