Super Eagles' Assistant Coach, Amapakabo Denies Being Ousted From Eagles Camp

Super Eagles’ assistant coach, Imama Amapakabo has denied a report in the media that he was asked out of the team’s camp in Uyo by Franco-German Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr.

The Enugu Rangers FC head coach was part of the team’s first training session in the Akwa Ibom State capital on Tuesday evening before leaving for Enugu on Wednesday morning to take charge of the ‘Flying Antelopes’ in a rescheduled NPFL match. But a report stated that he had been shoved out of the team by former Paris Saint Germain FC defender Rohr.

Coach Rohr takes charge as 20 Eagles train in Uyo

Franco-German Gernot Rohr took charge of the Nigeria senior men’s squad, Super Eagles, for the first time on Tuesday as the team began training sessions ahead of Saturday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania.

Rohr and a number of players could not fly to Uyo from Lagos on Monday as ARIK airline eventually cancelled their flight after many hours. But the entourage landed in Uyo just after noon on Tuesday.

On arrival at the team’s Le Meridien Hotel, Coach Rohr had a meeting with his assistants, backroom staff and players present, before the evening’s training session at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club of Lagos continued their fight against relegation after a goalless draw against Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia in Match Day 33 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) played at the Agege Township Stadium.

The entire duration of the match saw both teams giving their all but MFM FC inspiring performance didn't yield any dividend. The first eight minutes of the encounter produced some spark with the Olukoya Boys winning the first corner kick but Ifeanyi Ifeanyi failed to make it count as the visitors defended stoutly.

Stadium Review: Warri Township Stadium

Warri Township Stadium is the home of Warri Wolves Football Club. The stadium is mostly used for football (soccer) matches. Nigeria’s senior men’s squad, Super Eagles. will open camp in Uyo, capital of Akwa Ibom State on Monday for Saturday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Tanzania.

Decisions Of NFF's Disciplinary Committe On Matters Involving NNL Teams

Below are the decisions reached by the displinary committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on matters involving teams in the second level football league in Nigeria; The Nigeria National League (NNL).

The Committee considered that the attitude of Mr. Julius Atete as being inciting and frowns at such acts by team Officials. The Committee therefore considers his conduct as bringing the match to disrepute as a result of which led to the abandoning of the match by his team.

He is hereby placed on two (2) match bans with effect from their next match. The Committee in arriving at this decision invoked Art. 7.(21)

2. The Committee finds J. Atete FC Guilty of Abandoning the match and noted that Team Officials have no right to abandon a match for whatever reason ”If a club refuses to continue with a game for a period of up to five (5) minutes in a match or till the expiration of full time of any half of the game or walksoff the pitch, it shall forfeit the match to its opponent by 3 points 3 goals or the score at the time of abandonment whichever is higher”.4.2(5) The club shall in addition pay a fine of N500,000.00 to League within Fourteen (14) days.

59 Amateur Teams Set For Nationwide Division3

Fifty nine teams in the Nationwide Division 3 league will jostle for eight promotion tickets to Nationwide Division 2 from September.

According the secretary of Nationwide League, Sola Ogunowo in a chat to Footyalert, dates for the playoffs to division 3 will be announced soon.

Ikorodu United Adopts Abeokuta As Permanent Home Ground

Ikorodu United FC of Lagos has requested an secured approval from the League Management Company (LMC) to play the remaining of its 2015/16 home fixtures of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.

It will be recalled that following crowd incident during the Match Day 30 fixture against Shooting Stars at the Onikan Stadium, Ikorodu United was found not to have ensured adequate security and were ordered to play three home games at Abeokuta with two suspended on condition of good behaviour by the fans.

Ikorodu United served the sanction on Match Day 32 and defeated Niger Tornadoes 1-0 but in a letter to the LMC, the club General Manager, Dele Gbajumo appealed that the club be permitted to relocate to Abeokuta for the remainder of the games of the on-going season.

During the Hajj, some of the annual pilgrimage rites are performed such as Tawaf (walking seven times around the Kaaba) and Sa’y (running between the hills of Safa and Marwa) in line with the pilgrimage rites.

Speaking from Mecca on the spiritual journey, Dan Fulani, as he is fondly called said he is personally praying for peace and prosperity for Nigeria, and for Shooting Stars to end the season on a reasonable position on the NPFL table.

LMC Files for Stay of Execution of Court Order on reinstatement of Giwa FC

The League Management Company (LMC) on Tuesday, August 23 filed an appeal against the Plateau State High Court order asking it to reinstate Giwa FC to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL). The LMC, in its appeal filed by Chief Akin Olujimi (SAN),aying the Court of Appeal to set aside the interim order of the Plateau State High Court, Jos on several grounds of law and challenging the jurisdiction of the lower court to have granted the orders in the first place.

In a related development, the League organizers also made an appearance through its counsel, Chief Akin Olujimi (SAN), before the High Court in Bukuru, near Jos-Plateau State presided over by MR Justice I.I Kunda and filed a motion urging the court to stay further action on the orders it issued last week.

Hot Chase For July NPFL League Bloggers Award

The shortlists for the Manager and Player of July in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) - League Bloggers Awards (LBA) have been named after long deliberation.

Four players and four coaches were listed among the nominees on Monday
to vie for the NPFL-LBA for the month of July.

In the race for the manager's award are Kabiru Dogo of Nasarawa United, Plateau United's Zachary Baraje, Rafael Everton of FC Ifeanyiubah and Imama Amapakabo of Enugu Rangers.

Dogo and Baraje helped their teams amass 10 points from five matches
apiece in the month under review and also lost once each. However,
Plateau United under Baraje stunned the bookmakers when they won at
Abia Warriors by a goal on July 3 and also won 1-0 at MFM FC on the
last day of July.

NFF congratulates U23, clears air on Japanese man’s money

The Nigeria Football Federation has congratulated the U23 National Team for winning bronze at this year’s Men’s Olympic Football Tournament in Brazil, after edging Honduras 3-2 in Belo Horizonte on Saturday.

Usman Mohammed headed over the woodwork in the 19^th minute but Emmanuel Daniel had to be at his best to thwart a long range shot three minutes later. Ezekiel failed to score from a good position in the 26^th minute and Sadiq Umar poorly directed his header in the 29^thminute.

Daniel had to rush out to intercept and then save a one-on-one situation, before Captain Mikel Obi combined brilliantly with Ezekiel Imoh to tee up Sadiq Umar for Nigeria’s first goal in the 34^th minute.

Honduras, who lost 1-3 to Nigeria at the Four –Nation Invitational Tournament in Suwon, Korea Republic in June, hit the sidenet at the close of the first half, but Aminu Umar increased Nigeria’s lead four minutes after recess after pouncing on the ball as the goalkeeper dropped Mikel Obi’s shot.

The Golden Eaglets have arrived in Niamey for their Africa U17 Cup of Nations qualifier against Junior Menas of Niger Republic, taking place on Saturday. Camped at the Royal Palace Hotel, the players have expressed confidence ahead of the crucial game.

"We are ready for the Nigeriens," captain Abduljabar Sani told thenff.com. "This is the first time most of us would travel out of the country and we don't want it to end on this our first trip; that means we must Insha Allah (by the grace of God) do everything to qualify for the next round." The Golden Eaglets have won the last four matches between the two countries in the last two years with the last being the 1-0 winner at the National Stadium in Abuja a fortnight ago, and the new lads are confident of extending Nigeria's grip on the Nigeriens.

"This match is important for our careers and what Governor Tambuwal told us before we left Sokoto is at the back of our minds. We are going to give the match our best shot," defender Solomon John said, matter-of-factly.

Rohr lists Mikel, Ikeme, 21 others for Tanzania

Nigeria’s Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr has invited 23 players, including Captain Mikel John Obi and goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, for next month’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania.

The match is a dead rubber, as both teams have been eliminated, but Rohr and the Super Eagles are using the game as rehearsal for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying series Matchday 1 clash with Zambia in Ndola in October.

The Franco-German, named Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles by the NFF two weeks ago, has called up three goalkeepers, eight defenders, four midfielders and eight forwards for the game scheduled for the Akwa Ibom International Stadium, Uyo on Saturday, 3^rd September.

Stadium Review: Warri Township Stadium

Warri Township Stadium is the home of Warri Wolves Football Club. The stadium is mostly used for football (soccer) matches. The 30,000-capacity stadium has hosted some major events in the past including the African Women’s Football Championship in 2002 and 2006, and African Youth Athletics Championship (AYAC) in 2013.

The Warri Wolves FC (a Nigerian Premier League team) plays their home games at Warri Township Stadium. The Delta State team Warri Wolves are nicknamed the “Seasiders.” The stadium has an artificial turf and covered stands.
