Kano Pillars and Rivers United clash in the day’s big Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.

When the two sides met in the reverse fixture on April 17, United prevailed 1-0 at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt with winger, Bernard Ovoke netting the winner late in the second half.

United are flying this term and currently sit in third place on the NPFL log while Pillars rather surprisingly occupy 10th place on the standings.

Pillars will be looking to respond after losing their last NPFL game 0-1 to Nasarawa United at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi on Thursday.

United will however be looking to claim a heart-warming result in Kano with the club’s technical manager, Stanley Eguma explaining that his side have arrived the Pyramid City with a positive mind set.

“Kano is always a difficult place to go to because you do not just play against very good players but the atmosphere is always charged as their fans usually turn out in large numbers.

“The league has not ended yet so we need to work above our capacity.

“So many other clubs are fighting for honours so much and the pressure is immense,” Eguma told Rivers United Media
