Plateau United dented the hopes of Remo Stars Football Club with a 2-1 win over the Sky Blue Stars in their debut match in the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL at the Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu.
The Sky Blue Stars started on a high and took possession of the game in the first half but couldn't convert the chances created.
Plateau United drew the first blood in the 26th minute after John Kim slotted in a chance from a square play.
Victor Mbaoma restored hopes for the lads at the stroke of half-time after he headed in to score from Abiodun Abdulrasheed's free kick.
Just few minutes into the second half, Plateau's Golbe Elisa converted a free kick to make the game 2-1 in their favour.
Ndukwe saved a shot from Elisa in the closing minutes of the game and Mbaoma's shot to equalise was stopped by Plateau's goalkeeper.
According to the Technical Adviser, Nduka Ugbade, he says he is not disappointed by the performance of his lads.
"I am not disappointed by the performance of my young lads because they played well and they fought from the beginning to the end."
"We created lot of chances but couldn't convert, we have now learnt our lessons that whenever we create chances, we should utilise them."
Nduka tutored side will be away to Gombe United in the Match Day 2 scheduled for Wednesday, 18th of January, 2017
