Super Eagles Head Coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, has again said that the UJ Esuene stadium turf remains one of the best in the country but asked the authorities not to lower their curtains in the area of maintenance.
Keshi who spoke at the Media interactive session in Calabar on Wednesday, said he was making his suggestion because the turf at present was better when the team played its other games at the same venue. “We need to constantly maintain the turf so that it will remain as good as it was but it still remains our best and my players are always happy to play here because the people of Calabar, the government and the fans are the best you can find in the world”.
He also praised the management of Transcorp hotels for the wonderful hospitality that the team receives each time they have played in Calabar. “At times we are tempted to over indulge ourselves but we control our habits because as footballers we like to be spoilt a little”.
Similarly, Calabar based Christy Villa FC, has vowed to produce young and talented players from Cross River state that will make the Super Eagles thick in the nearest future. Team Manager of the side, Christy Ubi Isobo, made this promise during a visit to the Transcorp Hotels camp of the national team on Tuesday afternoon.
“We want to support the good works, Governor Liyel Imoke has been doing and the vision of Stephen Keshi as well as the NFF, and our own contribution will soon start yiedling fruits because we have talented young players who can take Nigerian football to the next level”, she said. Christy Villa is presently in action in the Cross River State Governor’s Cup, with a vow by Isobo to ensure that the team go far in the tourney.
