Nigeria’s Flying Eagles continued their build-up for the 2015 African Youth Championship with a 5-0 spanking of NYSC FC on Friday in Kaduna.

“We can do a lot better than this,” said assistant coach Nduka Ugbade, who stood in for the absent Manu Garba.

“We created 13 chances but converted only two in the second half when we should have finished off most of them. We have to improve on our finishing and also our tactical awareness.”

It was an even affair for most of this
test game, but the Nigeria youth team were more clinical in their finishing against a side, who fell 5-2 to the country’s ‘B’ team last week .

Flying Eagles led 3-0 by half time courtesy of a brace by Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and Bernard Bulbwa.

Sweden-based striker Taiwo Awoniyi and Sunshine Stars Prince Aggrey completed the rout with goals in the second half.

Man of the match Ifeanyi Ifeanyi from Nigeria National League side MFM FC Lagos put the Junior Eagles in front in the 21st minute from a free kick.

He doubled the lead from the penalty spot after a goal-bound Awoniyi was fouled on his way to goal in the 28th minute.

Ifeanyi Ifeanyi provided the assist for the Flying Eagles third goal in the 44th when his chip was finished off superbly by Bulbwa.

In the 53rd minute, Awoniyi cashed in on a defensive mix-up in the NYSC defence to make it 4-0.

NYSC failed to convert a penalty in the 67th minute after a Flying Eagles defender pushed an opponent inside the vital area.

Giwa FC goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo saved the penalty.

And two minutes later, the Flying Eagles confirmed their class when substitute Obinna Nwobodo put through Bulbwa to cross for Aggrey to finish well.

Tunde Adeniji would have added to the misery of the NYSC side 10 minutes from time, but he wasted a clear-cut chance.

Flying Eagles goalkeeper Ojo then ensured he kept a clean sheet when he blocked a powerful shot for a corner in the closing moments of the encounter.
