Giving this assurance in Tunis on Monday, the Ambassador of Nigeria to Tunisia, His Excellency Dr. Joseph Apeh Omede, said the leaders of the Nigerian community had been duly contacted and have
gone to work on mobilizing the members to the venue.

“We have a good number of Nigerians in Tunis and the leaders are working on mobilizing our people in this city to storm the Stadium to cheer the boys. There was no publicity about the first match, so they didn’t know and were not there.

“It is different this time. They will be ready to give total support to our boys.”

On Monday, the leader of the U-23 Team’s delegation to Tunisia, Alhaji Babagana Kalli, a member of the NFF Executive Committee, was at the Embassy alongside Head Coach Samson Siasia and NFF’s Assistant Director (Communications), Ademola Olajire. They met with the Ambassador and the Head of Chancery, Mr. Mala Yusuf.

The U-23 National Team will round up its tour of Tunisia on Wednesday and depart for Nigeria on Thursday.  The team has an 11th All-Africa Games qualifying fixture against Gabon, which first leg comes up in Libreville on 22nd February.

Organisers of Wednesday’s match have agreed to a request by the Nigeria Football Federation for a minute silence prior to kick-off, in honour of former Nigeria international goalkeeper Wilfred Agbonavbare, who died on Tuesday.
