The Super Eagles started well in the first half even
with Ivorian stars like 2014 African player of the year,Yaya Toure, Lacina Traore and Max Gradel in the Elephants set up. Kano Pillars and Enyimba forwards, Gambo Mohammed and Mfon Udoh came close in the 11th and 15 minute but both effort wasn't a major  problem to CIV goal keeper.

Salomon Kanlou, the former team mate of John Obi Mikel at Chelsea FC but now plays for German Bundesliga side, Hertha Berlin came off the bench to make the difference in the 84th minute.

The Elephants, coached by Herve Renard created series of chances but the Eagles backline could only hold on till the 84th minute when Kano Pillars midfielder, Rabiu Ali carelessly gave the ball away to Tiote who made a run and did a cut back to Kalou who finished well.

Both countries will play one more friendly, Nigeria who are the current champions of of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) but failed to qualify for the 2015 edition will face Sudan while Cote D’ Ivoire who are tipped as tournament favorite will face Sweden.
