Following Prime Football Club and First Bank Football Club of Lagos, withdrawal from the Gold Cup Pre-Season Tournament, the organizers have replaced both teams with Supreme Court FC of Abuja and Kwara Football Academy, Ilorin.
Prime FC and First Bank were reported to have withdrew from the tournament due to logistic reasons, as stated by top officials of both teams.
“We had been consulting with all the teams we invited, but Prime FC and First Bank won't be participating due to logistic reason. We understand the teams’ position and make them sure that in future tournaments we will give them the opportunity to participate,” Tunde Shamsudeen, the General Coordinator of the tourney said.
The second edition of the Pre-Season Tourney is set to begin on Thursday January 29, at the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode.
Teams that will battle for honours are; FC Ebedei, Sunshine Stars, Kogi Utd, KFA in group A. While Shooting Stars, Supreme Court, Rising Stars and Sharks FC are drawn in group B.
