ABS midfielder, Samuel Oyedeji has blamed ill-luck and the poor state of the Umuahia pitch for the 2-0 loss to Abia Warriors in a week 17 Nigeria Professional Football match on Sunday.
The Saraki Boys star felt the loss may be disappointing but bad luck, the pitch and and loss of concentration were reasons for the loss.
“The result against Abia Warriors may be disappointing but I see more of ill luck because we gave our best, came close a couple of times but we couldn't just score,” Oyedeji told Footyalert
“We had a very good game in the first half, but in the second half, I think we lost a bit of concentration too. The pitch didn't help at all, we are used to the passing game but that pitch in Umuahia isn't good for such passing game.”
“So we had to adapt to their own pattern which also affected us. You kick the ball high from the back line to strikers and this system makes the players get tired easily.”
“The loss to Abia Warriors isn't good for us as regards the standings but we just have to pull ourselves together in our next game."
“We shall do a one hour drive from Umuahia to Port Harcourt in time to be ready for the match against Rivers United where are hopeful of picking up at least a point.” Oyedeji concludes
