Abia Warriors defender, Uche Ossa is confident that ABS will leave Umuahia without a point after match day 17 Nigeria Professional Football League tie on Sunday.
The Umuahia outfit couldn’t hold on firm to their five games unbeaten run on Wednesday when they lost 2-1 to league leaders, MFM at the Agege stadium but the former Warri Wolves defender believes Abia Warriors will get back to winning ways on Sunday.
“We have always been ready and it's not different against ABS on Sunday,” Ossai told Footyalert
“We lost to MFM from a five match unbeaten run but we have put the loss at MFM on Wednesday behind us and we are only focused on today's match.
“The only positive from that match in Lagos was the confidence we displayed in the second half of that match and we shall take that to the match today. We are confident of a win, football is played in the pitch but we are optimistic to get a favorable result.”
The visitor’s coach, Henry Makinwa had earlier noted that the Umuahia stadium pitch isn’t in a good condition and may hinder them from playing their brand but Ossai noted that isn’t an excuse.
“That may not be an excuse not to play good football, we have played in other pitches and we know the state of some pitches. If the coach of ABS feels our pitch will affect his team's brand of football what about us, we play a brand of football too.”
“So if the pitch is at a disadvantage to them, same applies to us too. We've had teams visit here and I haven't heard any team complain about the pitch been a disadvantage to them or a yardstick for them not to play their game.”
“We are always focused on the game and knowing that every match comes with a bag of opportunities and should be a step to achieving our set goals, so we don't entertain excuses, we get the job done and move on. Our target is to make the top four at the end of the season and the result from every match is very important so we'd focus on achieving our target from every match.”
