Bayelsa United Technical Manager, Dabo Ere Dokubo is confident the Restoration Boys will pick up more points on the road as they target a promotion ticket to the apex league.
The Bayelsa outfit secured a 0-0 draw in a week four Nigeria National League (NNL) match against Abia Comets in Umuahia on Saturday and Dokubo believes his charges can continue to pick up more points on the road.
“We have done well by picking up yet another point on the road again. Our intent was to win in Umuahia but it's all good that we got a point,” Dokubo told Footyalert
“We didn't sit back to defend, we came all out and kept hitting at them but we didn't get the goals. We have had a good start this season and we hope to stay focused all through.”
“We have work hard to win at home and do same on the road. Picking up points on the road is very important and that’s one of our target to achieving our set goal this season.”
“Our target is to secure a promotion ticket to the elite division and I am confident that it will happen by God's grace.”
The former Sharks gaffer though rated the Nigeria Professional Football League higher but he believes the NNL’s re-branding will make impact.
“At the moment, the Nigeria Professional Football League is well organised compared to what we have in the Nigeria National League.”
“But we must give kudos to the re-branding going on in the NNL. We have played four matches and haven't lost yet, we picked up the maximum point in Owerri against Papilo FC and on Saturday we picked another point in Umuahia so that shows teams can win regardless of where they play if teams prepare well.”
“With time, the NNL will compete favourably with the NPFL soon.”
