After the end of the match, Jerry (a supporter) gets back home, took a nap but suddenly jacks back to life with wrinkled face of pain from the heat sensation running down his spine and legs.

Oh my head! Oh my thigh! Were the languishing words from him while being massaged after a royal rumble drama at the stadium starred by angry fans after the home team lost the match

The cancer of home team winning at all cost and away teams scared of picking points has eaten deep into the league system. A team plays scintillating football at home then goes away to lose scandalously and you wonder what magical football they play at home.

We are gradually moving past the dark age in the domestic league where insecurity, harassment and molestation of fans, players/officials is the order of the day. Now games are being televised, we get to see night games and supporters are starting to believe in the league.

Again, families can go to the stadium to have a good time and feel comfortable with a reasonable level of security. Though there are few away win s record in the Nigeria Professional Football League but this UGLY monster of visiting teams scared of picking points with the echoes of ‘bad officiating won't favor us, angry fans will attack us' ancient mentality just refuses to go away.

Just last season, Sunshine Stars and Ikorodu United were handed stadium ban due to crowd violence. The recent one being the Kano pillars against Akwa United and Kastina United against Enyimba which was an eyesore .

If we really want to come anywhere close to European football that has swept the heart of football lovers in Nigeria then there's load of work to do. Clubs should put preventive measures in place such as sensitizing their supporters, providing adequate security on match days to guarantee safety of lives and properties. We should all embrace the spirit of sportsmanship to help in further branding of our league.
