Kogi United and Kwara United are set to light up Confluence Stadium, Lokoja on Saturday in a North-Central derby encounter in the Matchday seven of the Nigeria National League, NNL.

Both aides met last in the 2013/2014 NNL season with a 2-1 victories recorded in both legs for either side.

The match on Saturday would determine how impressive the season could be for both teams as they aim to pick one of the tickets to promotion at the end of the season.

Soccer pundits will also beam more light on the match and expected how Kogi United- now managed by former Kwara United manager Tunde Abdulrahman- will respond from their back-to-back away defeats in the league.

Kogi United have so far garnered six points while Kwara United have 10 from possible five league games but in six fixtures (both sides have drawn bye for Giwa FC)

A victory will move Kogi United up the table and put them in stead among promotion contenders while anything short of victory may dampen Kwara United's hope who started the season on a brother note with four points recorded on the road.

Mayaki said his side have been fired up to return to winning streak after losing their last two fixtures on the road to Kaduna United and Yobe Desert Stars respectively.

"We are in top form to play Kwara United this weekend, it's the best time for us to play them and wrong time for them to play us because of our present form and mentality," begins the former Rangers Int'l midfielder.

"It's unfortunate we lost our last two away games which I don't think we deserve to due to our performances, but we have resolved and regrouped now, we want to pick up quickly as you know there's no time for jamboree, we will approach the match with all sense of focus and determination with total victory in sight for us."

Meanwhile, chairman of the Confluence state club, Mallam Abdul Sule has enjoined the teaming supporters, fans and lovers of the club to troop out en mass and cheer Kogi United to victory in Saturday.

Mallam Sule who made the call in a statement issued through the club's spokesman, Wale  Mustapha noted that supporters are key elements in any club's aspirations to achieve great results.

While thanking them for their continued supports, the former Super Eagles and BCC Lions' player however charged the supporters and fans of the clubs to identify with the club in their traditional blue jerseys on Saturday.
