When Nembe city gained promotion to the Glo Premier League this season people asked questions like which club is that? Where are they from? Is it a private club or government owned?
The club from Bayelsa announced their arrival in their debut season in the Glo Nigeria Premier League 2012/2013 with a 1:2 win at the Dan Anyiam stadium Owerri against Heartland FC. After pulling the attention of league followers they fell
like a pack of card at home to Rangers of Enugu, they lost by a goal to two at the Samson Siasia stadium.
The team owned by former NPL chairman, Victor Baribote is one of the two private owned clubs in the apex league in Nigeria. When Footyalert asked him how it has been like running the club solely without a sponsor he simply replied "maybe the Lord will create a Moses in me to bear the financial burden and take the club to the promise land"
My brother, it's not easy. You know in Nigeria, companies think they are doing a football club a favour by sponsoring them. We are putting in place structures that will instil confidence in prospective sponsors. Though the boys are ready to make a name for themselves and that you’ve seen in us this season. You can’t right any team off in the premier league so ours’ is to go out there and put in the very best hoping that at the end of the day we shall secure the maximum point, said Baribote"
The "Kala Ekulema Boys are currently 15th on the log just two step above relegation zone, they've won 8,drawn 2 and lost 10 matches so far this term.
They will host Naze Millionaires in Yenegoa this weekend and hope to do a double on Heartland who lost to their city rival Enyimba of Aba mid week.
