The crisis at Heartland FC of Owerri seem to have just taken a new dimension as the club management have suspended the protocol officer of the club, Tonex Chukwu.
Crisis from owing players to improper planning that saw them been walked over by US Bitam of Gabon in the 2013 CAF confederation cup. The team left Nigeria on match day and failed to show up in Gabon at kick off time and that
made them lose out in the continental competition.
Twice they've lost at home to newly promoted side, Nembe City from Bayelsa and recently to city rivals Enyimba of Aba in a week 20 Glo Premier League match. The result of that loss to the Elephant of Aba has compelled the club to suspend the assistant coach Ramson Madu and the protocol officer Tonex Chukwu for indiscipline.
In a chat with Tonex Chukwu early on Friday morning, his response showed that there's more happening behind the scene.
"Can you imagine, they said I sold the match to Enyimba,"Tonex queried.
When a coach suddenly turns to a super human, what do you get? I led the team to Ibadan to pick an away win, went to Warri to pick a draw yet they said it's me when the club has a head coach. Tonex continued, I'll wait for the out come of their investigation after which I'll respond.
Basically for a club to be up there, both the management and the team must play their role, when either of them doesn't do what they are meant to do then result like this will be on the headline.
The Naze millionaires will be visitors at the Samson Siasia stadium in Yenegoa to play the reverse fixture of the match they lost at home 1:2 to Nembe City.
