Adepoju was recently alongside 15 other ex-stars of the Spanish topflight unveiled as La Liga ambassadors in Madrid, Spain.

Acheru in a statement issued in Port Harcourt, highlighted the playing and administrative experience of the former Super Eagles star, as pointers that he would be able to deliver on the expectations of the Spanish La Liga.

“I believe Mutui Adepoju is the right choice. As a player for Nigeria and Real Sociedad he showed a high level of discipline and dedication.

“Also as an administrator with Shooting Stars Sports Club he was not found wanting.”

The Nigeria Professional Football League has signed a five-year co-operation deal with La Liga and already this agreement has seen an All-Stars team from Nigeria feature on a playing tour of Spain recently.

With a whole lot more to come under the partnership between the NPFL and La Liga, Acheru believes Adepoju's experience will be of vital essence in facilitating the laid down programs.

“We believe he will bring his wealth of experience to bear as we strive to make the La Liga/ NPFL partnership a success.

“The NPFL will gain a lot from this la liga partnership so would La Liga gain from us as a result of the person, Adepoju.”

Mutiu Adepoju in response to his recent appointment is quoted as acknowledging the EPL has the edge in Nigeria at the moment but is very optimistic the Spanish LA Liga will go on to become the market leader with the biggest media visibility in Nigeria in the next two years.
