Super Eagles trio of John Obi Mikel, Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho have been nominated for the 2016 African Player of the Year by the Confederation of African Football (Caf).
Africa's football governing body, Caf released a 30-man list of the continent's best in 2016 on Saturday October 15 as Super Eagles captain and assistant, John Obi Mikel and Ahmed Musa makes the list. Manchester City youngster, Kelechi Iheanacho is the third Nigerian on that list.
2015 winner, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon alongside Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani, Cote d’Ivoire’s Eric Bailly, Egypt’s Mohamed Salah and Ghana’s Andre Ayew all made the list in 2016.
The duo of Enyimba's Mfon Udoh who scored nine goals in the 2016 Caf Champions League and former Abia Warriors striker, Chisom Chikatara who now does it for Moroccan club, Wydad Athletic made the 25-man list for the African Player of the Year Based in Africa award.
