    Rivers United defender,  Ayobami Asekunowo believes that the  Port Harcourt base outfit will rule Africa in 2017.

    The club, Rivers United which birth after the merger of Dolphins FC and Sharks FC (both based in Rivers State) finished second on the NPFL 2015/16 log which earned them a Caf Champions League ticket.

    Ayobami Asekunowo who just resumed from a short break sounded refreshed and strong willed as he stated that the tour of Spain promised the team by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike will definitely motivate the team.

    "I spent my holiday in Jos, Plateau State with my family but the break isn't that long especially after staying away from them for a long period. But i still thank God that i met them in good health which is the most important thing.


    "I know everyone in the team will be happy because of the trip to Spain as the governor has promised. Such exposure does excites us and we hope to deliver.

    "I've played on the continent before while at Dolphins FC and I strongly believe that Rivers United has all it takes to do well in the Caf Champions League and we shall surprise Nigerians by lifting the trophy, "Asekunowo told Footyalert
