Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club of Lagos has began full screening exercise of new players ahead of the 2016/17 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
The Olukoya Boys who returned to camp last week Thursday from the season's break after their campaign in the 2015/16 Nigerian were joined by promising talents from various leagues and non league sides on Tuesday morning at the Prayer City training ground in preparation for the forthcoming Nigeria top league season.
MFM FC head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu told mountaintopfc.com that the open screening would last for one week starting with a list of invited players from various clubs across the country as he prepared to put together a formidable squad that will challenge for a top place finish in the 2016/17 NPFL season.
“As you can see, work has started already and all hands are on deck. It's very important we do this now because reports from the media are suggesting that the league may start on the 6th of December, 2016 and we don't want to be caught unaware.
“There's no time to waste. We have decided to do the screening for just one weekend and then start our pre-season camping and look for one or two pre-season tournaments to play in order to put the boys in good shape ahead of the new football season,” stated Ilechukwu.
The modest NPFL side finished the outgone top flight season claiming the 16th position on the log with 45 points.
