  • NPFL All Stars Win Maiden AMAPRO Football League

    Kwara State based Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL All Stars have claimed the maiden Phreestyle Sport organized AMAPRO Football League trophy with a 3-1 win over the Nigeria National League, NNL Alls Stars in the final.

    The colorful grand finale played at the Kwara Football Academy, KFA pitch on Sunday saw the FC IfeanyiUbah striker, Ismaila Gata opened the scoresheet with a 22nd spot kick.
    Nasarawa United attacking midfielder, Abdulkadir Aminu doubled the lead for the Premier League Stars in the 56th minutes with a screamer from 35 yards.

    Crown FC talismanic winger, Ahmed Yaqub gave the NNL boys hope of coming back when he tapped in Kwara United's Segun Alebiosu's cross from close range in the 76th minutes.

    But their hopes to make the final decided by penalties were dashed as ABS FC striker, Audu Akeem scored the third goal for the NPFL Stars off a wonderful team build up and claim the giant trophy.



    Selected players from non-league won the best team prize for their outstanding performance during the competition while the duo of Nasarawa United's Abdulrahman Bashir and Crown FC winger, Ahmed Yaqub won the top scorers award with the three goal apiece.

    Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Phreestyle Sport, Shogo Shodunnke said the competition was aimed at developing football in the grassroots, motivating amateur players by the professionals and helping the helpless through football just he promised that the mini league will be yearly program.

    While presenting the medals and trophy to the champions, Kwara State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Pharm. Kale Ayo commended the organizers of the mini football league, Phreestyle Sport which he described as a best platform to promote togetherness among footballers and encourage upcoming players within and around the state to take the game serious.

    Represented by the Director in the ministry, Alhaji Shehu Onishola, Pharmacist Ayo noted program would be supported by the state government for sustainable unity in the state.

    A former board member of Nigeria Premier League, NPL, Alhaji Olowabi Wopa praised the initiator of the AMAPRO Football League for adding value to the growth of football adding that relevant bodies need to partner with organization of such to bring about further development of players and club football.

    Other stakeholder present at the final include the Chairman, Council of Director of Sports in Nigeria, Mallam Tunde Kazeem, representatives of Kwara State Football Association, Members of Kwara State All Stars, Excel All Stars, Kwara Football Academy Officials, ABS FC Officials, Kwara United management, members of Kwara State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, business and financial expert, Sanni Yaqub among others.
