Akwuegbu: Mighty Jets Focused On NPFL Ticket

The Technical Director of Mighty Jets, Benedict Akwuegbu has stated that the only target of the Jos outfit  this term is to secure a promotion ticket to the Nigeria Professional Football League.

The former Super Eagles striker won a silver medal at the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations and his goals helped Nigeria secure a ticket to the 2002 FIFA World Cup where he played against England.
Akwuegbu believes that the Jets, a private owned team and founded in 1970 has just one target this term and that’s to gain promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League.

“My target this season is to secure a ticket to the Premier League,” Akwuegbu told Footyalert

“I believe it’s achievable. It’s a target the entire team is working hard to achieve and I believe it’s possible. There isn’t much difference right now in the first round. The point difference between the team at the top and the lowly placed team isn’t that much but the second round will determine which teams will secure a ticket.”

“We haven’t lost this season; we won twice at home and drew twice on the road. It isn’t a perfect result but we can build on this.

Mighty Jets currently sit fourth on the Nigeria National League with eight points from four matches.
