Evans Ogenyi The League Is Still Open

Coach Evans Ogenyi of Lobi Stars believes that therace to lift the 2016/17 Nigeria Professional Football League trophy is still open.

The Makurdi side sit 11th on the league table with 23 points, nine adrift leaders, Plateau United but the former Nasarawa United coach has insisted that the league is a marathon just as the second round offers more opportunities.

“No team in the Premiership is a push over and as a general going to the war you won't reveal what your plans are on how you intend to conquer,” Ogenyi told Footyalert

“As a coach I must approach every game with a sense of seriousness, determination and resilience. It's a marathon league, it's just week 17 and at this stage no one can confidently say this team will lift the league trophy.”

“The second round offers a lot of opportunities and as the leagues gears to end the content becomes more intense, that moment every teams must be at their best all times. It’s important to garner points in the first round but it becomes tougher in the second stanza and as such consistency is important."

“It’s a marathon and not a sprint where your first round performance makes you a champion. We shall do all we can to finish the first round as high as we can and take up from there in the second round.”
