The First Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi has revealed that the 2017 Federation Cup will be different from what it used to be in terms of organization.
“Every state must enter two teams for Federation Cup because that’s what our statute says. We shall stop this issue of nearest venues, by the time we are doing the draws the venues till the quarter finals are known,” Akinwunmi told Footyalert
“So if your team happens to get a home draw so be it. We aren’t going to do venue change because of some reasons. If a team gets a home draw, so be it. That’s what creates a lot of verve. Also in the semi final, we have decided to play the home and away format. It’s going to be more interesting but there are a bit more things that we are going to do, We are going to put a bit of more razzmatazz.”
“One of the things I will suggest to the team if it visible is that we should separate the dates of the Men and Women Federation Cup final. So that everybody can focus and create a day out of it. Because on that day there’s so much pressure such that the Women final is like a pre event to the Men final,” Akinwunmi stated.
