Ubah Ghanaian coach, Yaw Preko has stated that he is determined to win trophies
at the Nnewi outfit.
The former Accra Hearts of Oak (Ghana) gaffer took charge at FC Ifeanyi Ubah when
former Japanese Technical
Adviser, Kenichi Yatsuhashi left the Anambra Warriors at the 2016 Nigeria
Professional Football League (NPFL) Super 4.
“I am here at FC Ifeanyi Ubah to win trophies, after lifting
the Super Cup in Abuja, I really want to win more. My target is to win the
league trophy and take the team back to the continent again. We have played at
that level before, we enjoyed every bit of the experience and it would be nice
to aim high on the continent this time around. Our target is to come out tops
in any competition we participate in,” Preko told Footyalert
The Ghanaian shared his experience in Nigeria as he frowned
at the long road trips clubs in the NPFL have to embark on to honour league
matches away from home.
“The Nigerian League is very competitive but the only challenge
is the travelling, you do 10- 20 hours drive yet there are mid-week matches
too. I feel for the players and the entire crew of every club in the NPFL. Most
of the clubs uses smaller buses which in itself is very difficult for players
to recover quickly. Back home in my country, Ghana, it’s not very big so the
way players recover from travelling is different from here in Nigeria. Ghanaian
clubs use big buses so that the players can be comfortable in it and recover
faster.
“Apart from that, it’s an experience I am enjoying though I am
bitter about it but the travelling is a big concern because in a situation
where you have to sit for 10-20 hours isn’t funny at all,” Preko stated.
