It wasn’t an easy task having fielded a team of seven players under the age of 21 years, the youngest being 16 year old, Ridwan Agbabiaka who featured for Nigeria’s national U17 team, Golden Eaglets in 2016. The flow and understanding in the Clique Sports Academy team did marvel everyone that saw them play; the solidity at the back from Akachukwu Chidera , Olalere Oluwasegun and of course mercurial goalkeeper, Matthew Yakubu ensured they conceded only two goals while goals from David Odibu, Ajibolade Isaac, Godferey Stephen ensured they always took the lead and scored seven goals in the four matches from open play.

According to Clique Sports Academy coach, Ajibolade Olumide, his wards are trained individually and as a team understand how to interpret tactics.

“It’s a combination of the fact that the players are trained individually and as a team so they do understand the technicality in the game and do have an edge even though are really young, how to interpret tactics. They can pass and receive in tight spaces and their ability to also press tight when they don’t have the ball is amazing,” Ajibolade told Footyalert

Clique Sports Academy, managed by Kitan Olateru-Olagbegi is the youngest team to have won the tournament since inception and they are billed to attend the world tournament in Beijing April 2017.
