  • Apapa Golden Stars maintain Metro League top spot

    The Apapa Golden Stars have maintained their winning streak in the Metro Pro League with a 4-3 win over AS Racine FC at Agege Stadium, on Wednesday.
    The Ayodeji Joseph boys drew the first blood in the 19th minute through Omodiagbe Agbonmere.

    Adeyeri Kazeem brought AS Racine back into the game with an equaliser in the 42nd minute but the joy was short lived as Golden Stars' Murtala Ibrahim and skipper Adewale Sapara increased the tally just before the break.

    On resumption
    for the second half, AS Racine's playmaker, Bakare Fatai scored a wonder goal through a free kick to enliven the hopes of the Emmanuel Ibru boys. The homers also went on to grab the equaliser via a penalty that was converted by Lasisi Gafar in the 78th minute.

    A-20 yard strike by Apapa Golden Stars' Adejokun Babatunde was the last straw that broke the camel's back for the hard-fighting AS Racine.

    Action now shifts to Teslim Balogun Stadium on Thursday as 36 lion slug it out with Nath Boys at 2pm while Collins Edwin will do battle with Bolowotan FC at 4pm.
    Yobo FC will also test their might against Remo Stars Football Club of Sagamu at Agege Stadium by 4pm.
