    Metro Pro League kicks off in grand style, Bridge FC beats 36 Lions 2-0

    Privately-owned and first of its kind in West África, Metro Pro League finally kicked off on Wednesday with Bridge FC defeating their 36 Lions counterparts by 2 goals to nil in Week One of the season at the utra-modern Agege Stadium. 

    The two sides gave themselves so much as it took Bridge FC's Daniju Lateef to break the deadlock in the 35th minute which was the first goal of the Metro Pro League. 


    The interesting contest remained 1-0 in favour of Bridge FC as the referee, Jelili Ogunmuyiwa signalled the end of half time.

    36 Lions returned for the second half with a lot of venom but Bridge FC neutralise their forays with another goal through Shittu Babatunde in the 70th minute of the encounter.
    Meanwhile, Daniju Lateef who scored the first ever goal of the Metro Pro League was voted the man of the match.   


    The Metro Pro League management led by Mr Victor Akinyooye has assured that the exceptional players will be identified and rewarded on a monthly basis.  Other top fixtures for Thursday are; Apapa Golden Stars versus Union Bank FC at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere while Remo Stars will also do battle with AS Racine FC at Agege Stadium. Both games will kick off at 4pm
