Queen Ejovwo Hits Brace In Qatar.

Nigeria defender Queen Ejovwo was twice on target as she helped Al Arabi Ladies beat Qatar University with a thrilling 3-2 win.

The former Confluence Queens star stunned the home crowd with a fabulous strike on six minutes after collecting a pass from the midfield.

Two minutes after the goal, the fair skinned Delta born player doubled the lead much to the delight of a cheering crowd.

The first half ended three-nil in favour of Al Arabi, but
the homers scored two quick goals in the second half.

The University girls almost sparked a miraculous comeback but were denied by a last gasp save by former Falconets goalkeeper Chioma Nwankwo who also gave a good account of herself.

The game was played to celebrate Qatar Sports Day. According an official of the club, it's part of the Qatar Women Football Calendar, thus medals were awarded to the winning team.

It was the first accolade won by the Nigerians since they made the move to the oil rich Qatar region.

We caught up with the duo after the match and they were happy with the achievement.

“I'm happy, too happy but early in the second half we were incredibly nervous and panicked,” Queen said.

“The way the University finished, they had at least three goals in them - we had to be careful,” an excited Chioma said.

“Everyone knows we have good ability in the squad, but you're guessing who will perform well. The two goals and winners' medal is dedicated to no one but God,” the workaholic Queen said.

“We needed to get stronger - I think we made good progress and added to it an honour in my cabinet. What can I ask for? I am in cloud nine,” a happy Chioma concluded.
