With a 4-1 bashing of Union Bank Football Club, the Apapa Golden Stars have climed to the top of the Metro Pro League log.
The Golden Council boys took control of the game from the Bankers and they were rewarded with four goals in the encounter which was held at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere.
The Apapa team are now trailed by another tough
contenders, Brigde FC, while Remo Stars of Sagamu who came from a goal down to beat AS Racine by 2-1 at Agege Stadium.
AS Racine owned by Emmanuel Ibru lost the game to poor goal keeping by Joseph Bernard whose blunders cost his team the day. Unlike the biblical Joseph who took the Israelites to the Promised Land, AS Racines goalkeeper fluffed Adeniyi Babatunde's free kick into his own net. He also went on to shatter his team's hope picking a point as he miss judged a pull out that was connected by Shuji Oshobe who grabbed the winner for the Soname boys.
Action continues in the Metro Pro League on Wednesday 26th of this month as 36 Lion plans to redeem the image against Nath Boys at LASU pitch after losing the first league game to Bridge FC, Collins Edwin Sports Club will also slug it out with Bolowotan FC of Ikorodu while AS Racine will have it hands full against Apapa Golden Stars at Agege Stadium.
