Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia have slammed an indefinite suspension on the club’s defender, Valentine Nwabili and fined mid-fielder, Kalu Nweke
for gross indiscipline.
Management arrived at the decision after examining the circumstances
involving the two players as reported by the technical crew.
According to the report, Nwabili, against the instruction of the club’s Technical Consultant, claimed he travelled to Minna, Niger State to meet with his parents but was asked to report back to camp on Monday, 12th September, 2016 but as at Thursday he had not shown up at Umuahia.
In examining the case, management considered Valentine’s attitude as
gross misconduct in view of the club’s precarious situation on the NPFL league table and therefore suspended him indefinitely from all the club’s activities while he has been directed to hand over all the club’s property in his care including the identity card to the CAMP
COMMANDANT while he vacates the camp immediately.
On the other case, Kalu was fined heavily after he was found guilty of insulting a member of the Technical Crew during a training session. The money is to be deducted from his next salary.
In his reaction, Abia Warrior’s Technical Consultant, Abdullahi Biffo said the players must embrace discipline for the team to move ahead.
He lamented that while every other player and coach as well as other support staff agreed not to embark on any holiday, Valentine insisted
on travelling but failed to come back the following Monday as was
agreed.
“Even as we speak now, today is Thursday he is not back yet and has
not called to explain why. This is simply a case of abscondment and he
has to be punished to serve as a deterrent to others,' Biffo said.
