The former Dolphins FC (now known as Rivers United)  defender whose wife gave  birth to a bouncing baby girl about two weeks ago admitted the not too impressive performance this term.

The four time Nigerian champions are known for the massive support they enjoy at home in Kano and across Nigeria, they are one of the biggest football brand as long as domestic club
football is concerned in the country.

Though this season, like the previous one has not been the case as Kano pillars finished last season 8th on the NPFL log with 55points and are currently sitting on a disappointing 9th position this term having accrued just  48points.

Zikiye was quick to acknowledge the disappointment.

"We are disappointed because we started this season on a great note and dared to dream. We have great players, we enjoy massive  support from the fans including the Kano state governor. I refuse to pinpoint anyone as the cause of our poor performances and I think
what we've  had this season is a near success syndrome," Zikiye told Footyalert

"We will play for pride so as to finish the season on a respectable position and as you know in football, anything is still possible." He said.

The first of their last three matches comes up on Wednesday at the Sani
Abacha stadium, Kano against El Kanemi Warriors of Maigduguri.

The Desert Warriors sit just a step behind their host Kano Pillars onnthe NPFL log but they are tied on 48 point.

However,  Zikiye is optimistic that Pillars will secure the maximum points and hopes the form champions can secure wins in their last two matches thereby
creating a possibility of putting unexpected smiles on the faces of
their fans - a possibility which for sure is to secure an unlikely  continental ticket
