  • Match preview: COD United vs. Prime FC

    With the season now wrapping up with three matches to end the season, Prime Football Club will on Saturday face City of David Football Club of Lagos, in one of the Week 12 fixtures of the Nigeria National League at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

    Prime FC currently sit 4th on the log, having taken 16 points, while COD are bottom on the ladder with 10 points.
    Kazeem Alabi, is COD's caretaker coach and will take charge of his fourth game this weekend, having replaced sacked Okey Emordi.
    Prime coach, Shina Afolabi will have a full squad to choose from for the trip to Lagos, with only the stand-in captain Olabisi Olagunju suspended.
    Many of Prime followers will be keen to see Adeyemi Adeyeye in action again, having missed last fixture against his former team Remo Stars.

    It is expected that former Grays International FC reliable defender, Tunde Olawale, will make his first appearance of the campaign against COD United.
    Ewe, as COD United coach is fondly called may choose to unleash the same line-up that defeated Unicem Rovers a forth night ago.
    The last meeting between the two teams in Lagos ended 1-0, in favour of COD United. The meeting earlier in the season at Oshogbo Township Stadium resulted in a 2-0 Prime win, with the goals coming from Olabisi Olagunju, and Adeyemi Adeyeye.
    Former ABS diminutive midfielder Stone Evbuomwan, who joined COD at the beginning of the season, has been in fine form, likewise Anthony Omaka, Nnamdi Damian, Odunayo Ogunsuyi, Chinedu Enuademu, and Tosin Omoyele, have also enjoyed a positive in the ongoing season.
    The contest is expected to be fiercely-fought and COD boss said he expects a convincing win over Prime.
    "We are going for all three points on Saturday. In as much as we respect Prime FC, we do not fear them and that is why we will go all out to get the maximum points at stake," Ewe said.
    Prime gaffer sees the tie as a big game and described COD as a wounded Lions that can cause an upset going by their position on the log.
    “This will be a big game, we will do our best to win the game but the truth is that the position of COD on the table log make them look like wounded Lions.

    “They will give us the fight of their lives, but we will do our best to get something meaningful from the match," Afolabi told PRIME FC MEDIA.

    Prime have never picked point against COD in Lagos, can the Omoluabi Giants spring a surprise against the relegation bound COD? Ninety minutes of total football will determine.
