Footyalert's Ettedem Philip sat with Kano Pillars defender, Reuben Ogbonnaya ahead of Masu Gida's nid week NPFL clash northern neighbour, ElKanmei Warriors at the Sani Abacha stadium, Kano.
Footyalert: Good to have you Reuben first of all How are you doing?
Reuben: I am doing fine,I praise God.
Footyalert:You have a game on Wednesday, can you give us a sneak peek into what Kano Pillars is trying to do tomorrow?
Reuben: Nothing big, nothing much because we did prepare as normal and I believe the best side will always win so we have put in all we can during the week, you know we did not have a game in the weekend because it was postponed to Wednesday so all through since last week we have been training hard and making sure that we don't leave any stone unturned and end the game with a victory.
Footyalert: What is the situation like and the atmosphere in camp, are you guys already in holiday mode since it's three games to the end of the season?
Reuben: it's always like that when it's coming close to the end of the season, the feeling of going home after the season is coming to an end, after a long time already we had that in mind but we have decided to be focused and play our last three matches.
Footyalert: Pillars won the NPFL four times, three of those consecutively but now Pillars is struggling to get into the top 3 what would you say is the cause of this, what would you attribute this decline to?
Reuben: I would attribute this to hard luck and we had the players and we were in high spirit when we started we thought we were going to win the league with the calibre of players that we have suddenly it didn't go the way we planned. So I will say it's a hard season for us and we are not really happy because our target is to win the league or get a continental ticket but we don't see it coming.
Footyalert: (cuts in) or maybe don't you think teams have stepped up perhaps teams like Rivers United and Rangers International ?
Reuben: To be sincere with you it's a great season and am really (really happy) because the whole clubs have stepped up their game especially those clubs who haven't won the League before or won it in a long time like Rivers United, Wikki Tourists and Ifeanyi Ubah is coming up also and it's a great challenge also. I really love it we can't remain champions forever so I will attribute it that too.
Footyalerr:Well nice words from you Reuben, the way it's going it doesn't look like Kano Pillars is going to make the continent and the top 3 but what do you hope to achieve next season should you still be in Kano pillars?
Reuben: Nothing much but the trophy. I believe it will be better next season if i am going to be here, it will be better next season and I hope we shall lift the trophy next season. We have gone two or three years without a trophy and the fans in Kano are not happy and we have to make them happy by bringing the trophy back to Kano.
Footyalert:Ok thank you for your time Reuben.
Reuben: Thank you so much it's been a pleasure.
Fooryalert: And also success in your match tomorrow.
Reuben: Yeah thank you I appreciate.
