In case you are not familiar with who the Flamingoes are they are Nigeria's U-17 women football team who will fly the Green and White Nigerian flag on 1st October which coincidentally is Nigeria's Independence Day.
The Flamingoes on their way to glory

They trade tackle with Brazil, Korea DPR and England respectively in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Jordan.

Before a dive into the chances of the Flamingoes in this group let's give a brief history of Nigeria in this competition.

    History

Nigeria has attended every U-17 female World Cup and were even quarter finalists in the last 3 editions, they will be hoping to go further than that this year as they will try to get past their tricky group.

    How they qualified

The Flamingoes qualified with relative ease as they made light work of Namibia and South Africa as they defeated both countries home and away.

    Technical Crew

The Flamingoes is being led by Bala Nkiyu who was also in charge during the last edition at Costa Rica in 2014. He will be looking to lead his team to  a very good outing in Jordan. He favours an attacking team and places some emphasis on possession  football. His major weak link is that his team struggles against teams who defend really deep which could be a major concern.

    Key  players

The team is blessed with good players but the standout player has to be the captain Rasheedat Ajibade who is quite a good passer and has an eye for goal,  little wonder she is Nigeria's highest goalscorer in the qualifiers. Peace Efih is another player to look out for as her ability to coordinate attacks and help out in defence is key.

Patience Dike, the defensive stalwart who plays for COD United ladies will be crucial as her eadership qualities at the back will be the right nutrient for the Flamingoes to soar in the tournament.

On match day we shall preview their opponents Brazil . The Nigerian girls have arrived safely in Jordan.

    Go Flamingoes
