Kaduna Pre-Season Tourney: Boro United Are 2014 Champions

Nigeria Nationwide League side, Boro United of Kaduna against all odds found their way to the final and they are celebrating right now because they won the final by 1:0 against Kaduna United.

Boro United thought the pre season tourney will give them an opportunity to test their squad but now that they are champions, other teams like Niger Tornadoes who feature in the Nigeria National League (NNL) have picked two players from the Kaduna base team while Kaduna United who lost in the final have also picked Yakubu Hosea who captained Boro United last season in NNWL. Ranchers Bees who also feature in the NNL have also shown interest in a couple of the champions  players.

The chief coach of Boro United, Gambo Shanding told Footyalert he's
happy to have started the year on a winning note. The coach who was in a happy mood said though a couple of the bigger clubs have shown interest in his players but he is confident their replacement will fill in well.

"We had an open screening in December 2013 where we got six quality players and it's amazing to see one of them join Niger Tornadoes, I'm happy with the quality of play at this tournament and it's obvious we can build on this performance when the league kicks off,' said Gambo

Boro United started the started the Kaduna pre season tourney with a barren draw against NNL side, Jigawa Golden Stars, piped their Kaduna neighbor, Ranchers Bees who also feature in the NNL by a lone goal, their third match in the tourney ended in a 0:2 loss against another NNL side, Niger Tornadoes but the four point they gather was enough to see them to the semi final stage.

In the last four, Wikki Tourist of Bauchi who relegated from the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) last season lost to Boro United by a lone goal. At this point Gambo Shanding's men knew that they've got nothing to lose having found themselves in the final.

A lot of fans who thought Kaduna United will get an easy ride against a third tier league club couldn't believe the final score as Boro United celebrated their first triumph in 2014.
