Dipo Dina stadium Ijebu Ode was set alive when the much talked about pre season tournament tagged " Pre-Season Gold Cup" kicked off on Thursday 16th of January featuring top clubs from the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) , the Nigeria National League (NNL) and the Nigeria Nationwide League (NNWL).

Ex- Sunshine Stars coach, Abimbola Samuel now with Prime FC had a nice time reuniting with the Akure Gunners while the new gaffer at Sunshine Stars, Solomon Ogbeide made sure there wasn't a dull moment with the series of
rib cracking jokes he was dropping.

FC Ebedie, Crown FC, Sunshine stars and Prime FC all had an opportunity to see their squad in real match situation.

According to the organizer of the tournament,Tunde Shamsudeen, the Pre-Season Gold Cup tournament will afford participating teams an opportunity to size up their teams.

Though it's an all friendly affair at Ijebu Ode but when it got to real action things changed as NPL new comers, Crown FC who are featuring in two different pre season tourney, trashed NNWL campaigners, FC Ebedie 3:1 while Prime and Sunshine Stars played out a one all draw.

The high point of day one was when a goal was scored within 25 seconds.The reaction from the bench of Prime FC was filled with complains as to why the referee allowed such goal.

When the centre referee signaled kick off, the goal keeper of Prime was inches away from his goal post but Kingsley Eduwo of Sunshine Stars smartly did a long range shot from the center line and it dropped into an empty net.

Coach of Sunshine Stars Immediately used that opportunity to talk about the importance of alertness while in the pitch of play.

"We need not to complain about such situation, that's why we are here. When you are in the pitch, you must be focused and alert else this kind of scenario can happen" said Ogbeide.

An even more interesting fixture will go down on Friday as Crown FC of Ogbomoso trade tackle with Sunshine Stars while FC Ebedie face Prime FC.
