2014 Football Calendar, Will There Be Suprises?

2014, Football Calendar, Will There Be Surprises?

First, Footyalert team will like to wish friends and fans an interesting 2014 filled with Divine Favour.

As Nigeria hopes to rewrite history and tell the world that "football is made in Nigeria",  one important ingredient that is key to actualizing such  feat is to "believe".

Stephen Okechukwu Keshi will lead the Super Eagles (B team) to
South Africa for the African Nations Championship (CHAN). Though this is their debut in CHAN but been the AFCON champion, the Super Eagles are instant Favourite to lift the trophy at the competition meant for players based in Africa. What do you think, can they start the new year on a high?

Next is league football, The Nigeria National League (NNL) have set January 25th as kick off date and all the 32 teams participating in the league have set their sight on the four promotion ticket to the Nigeria Premier League (NPL). The NNL will be interesting because traditional teams like 3SC of Ibadan, Kwara United of Ilorin, Wikki Tourist of  Bauchi and private owned club , ABS FC of Ilorin will feature in the NNL. We hope the league board will do a good job.

The Nigeria Premier League (NPL) is yet to get a kickoff date while the Nigeria Nationwide League might also kick off some time in March.

The big one is definitely the senior World Cup, Brazil 2014. It will be amazing to see a Nigerian Captain lift the World Cup, Nigerians all over the world will redefine their bragging rights if this wish come to pass.

The ladies who have done so much in the Green and White colour of Nigeria will be in Costa Rica and hopefully the Falconets will qualify for Canada 2014.

Enyimba of Aba and Kano Pillars of Kano will represent Nigeria in CAF Champions League while Warri wolves and Bayelsa UNited will fly Nigeria's flag in the CAF Confederations Cup. Nigerian teams haven't been so lucky on the continent lately as no team has feature in the group stage of these continental completions theist two seasons. Though Rangers Int'l of Enugu did well to qualify for the group stage last season but they shot themselves in the foot by fielding an in eligible player.
Most definitely a tough one for Nigerian clubs on the continent.

    Will Nigeria fly high?
