Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club of Lagos suffered a 1-0 defeat against Enugu Rangers International Football Club in the rescheduled match day 30 of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) decided at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium.
MFM FC gave good account of themselves but their brave performance could not produced the needed result as they bowed to the hosting team in an intriguing encounter courtesy of a deflected goal.
The visitors began the match on high and won the first corner of the game off a counter-attacking move which was initiated by Onuwa Chukwuka. Ifeanyi Ifeanyi well taken corner kick was blocked by the hosts defence.
Chisom Egbuchulam lofty pass inside the visitors box off a goal-bound was intercepted by MFM FC's defender, Abisoye Olawale who was outstanding in the entire duration.
Both teams combined well with good fighting spirit as they take the game to themselves. Ifeanyi had a chance to score when he cut back his maker and released a bullet but his shot went inches wide.
Godwin Aguda forced MFM FC's goalkeeper James Aiyeyemi to a big save when he pulled a magnificent save to deny the host their opener.
The last ten minutes of the first half saw the Lagos-based team coming close to scoring. Sikiru Olatunbosun won a free kick after Papae Ousmane made a fine defensive block. His left-footed low shot could not beat Enugu Rangers FC goalkeeper Nana Bonsu. The first 45 minutes ended goalless for both sides.
The Olukoya Boys had a chance through Oladele Oshobe whose 48th minute header went inches wide off a lovely cross by Newman Musa. MFM FC won a free kick in the 52nd minute over the edge of the visitors box. Ifeanyi laid the ball down to Elom Kenneth but he fails to make his effort count.
Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu tutored side had another attempt on goal via Newman's 58th header but Nana gathered the ball with a routine save.
The Lagos outfit surged forward and controlled proceedings for 10 minutes and mounted pressure on the home team with brilliant display after the host safe hands kept Newman's goal opportunity.
Aiyeyemi made a great save in the 67th minute when he calmly saved Aguda's delightful header. The Flying Antelopes' later broke the gridlock in the 75th minute as MFM FC's defender deflected Egbuchulam's cross into the net.
All the attacking moves by the visitors to draw level was intercepted by the homers defence as the Flying Antelopes secured a vital 1-0 victory over the NPFL newcomers.
MFM FC still claim the 17th spot on the Nigerian top-flight table with 38 points from 30 league matches.
